EYELASH EXTENSIONS
AFTERCARE
Caring for your lash extensions will increase their longevity, keep your natural lashes healthy, and make them comfortable to wear.
BEFORE YOUR eyelash extension APPOINTMENT

REMOVE EYE MAKEUP:
Funny how aftercare starts before you reach the salon.
It's important to remove all eye makeup to give the adhesive a clean and clear surface to bond to, a key to good retention.

IF YOU DO ARRIVE WITH MAKEUP:
-
We will remove it, but - If it takes more than 5 min. you maybe charged $10, and;
-
regardless how long it takes to remove your makeup, it will cut into your total appointment time, which may give you less lashes for your money.
-
If we believe the quality of our service maybe jeopardized because of the time remaining or the type of makeup you have on, we will ask you to reschedule. In this case you will lose your deposit.
Avoid:
-
Arriving with makeup on around the eye area
-
Especially waterproof or oil-based eye makeup

REMOVE CONTACT LENSES:
Because you are expected to have your eyes closed for a long period of time we require contact lenses to be removed.

This will help: to keep you comfortable, which helps you to keep still, which helps our lash techs to get the perfect bond on your extensions, which is vital for your lashes retention. More importantly, we don't want to risk the contacts damaging your eyes during the procedure.

AVOID COFFEE & ENERGY DRINKS:
Avoid any stimulants that may cause you to twitch and move more than normal. The lash tech needs you to be as still as possible during the procedure. Some people are so relaxed they fall asleep, which is usually the best time for our lash tech to work their magic.
FIRST 24 HOURS

DON'T GET LASHES WET:
Our adhesives need 24 hours to cure, depending on the environment you surround yourself in. If they do get wet before then, it could jeopardize the curing process and they could fall out earlier than expected. Once 24 hours has past, your lashes are considered waterproof, sturdy and resilient.
If they do get wet within the 24 hours:
Very gently pat dry with a lint free paper towel or gently fan dry with cold air. This is not guarantied to work, the best solution is prevention.
Avoid:
-
Brushing wet lashes
-
High humidity
-
Pools
-
Rain
-
Steam
-
Sweat
-
Tears
-
Showers/baths - use goggles if need be

AVOID EXCESSIVE HEAT:
To much heat could prolong the curing time or effect the adhesive from bonding properly.
Exposure to excessive heat:
If you do find yourself in a really hot environment then expect the eyelash extensions retention to be compromised.

Avoid:
-
Hot air blow dryers
-
Hot showers/baths
-
Hot weather
-
Hot pools
-
Saunas
-
Steam

Even after 24 hours, its recommended that you avoid extreme heat. To much heat can straighten your lashes or distort them. Your normal temperature showers and hot pools are fine, and of course! relaxing in the sun.
Cleaning LASHES

BRUSHING AND CLEAN:
We recommend cleaning lashes every 2-3 days after the first 24 hours has past. This will keep them healthy and free from debris, bacteria and mites for the duration of your natural lash growth cycle.

It's important to brush your lashes daily to keep them tidy and free from tangles or clumping. Carry a mascara wand whenever your out and about to quickly brush any stray lashes back in line.

How to clean:
-
Read the instructions on the lash shampoo
-
Generally - 1 squirt of foam from a specialised lash shampoo onto closed eyelids, then...
-
use a Cleansing Wand work the foam down through the lashes, wiping the eyelids until all dirt and debris are cleansed away.
-
Pat dry with a lint free paper towel or gently blow dry with settings on cool.
-
Finally, brush them with a mascara wand.

If you don't clean your eyelash extensions:
The build up of dust, dirt, grim, oily residue is inevitable and can lead to lash mites and infections which will impact the health of your natural lashes and the retention of your extensions. Lash extension can also tangle and twist.

HANDLING YOUR LASHES

RUBBING YOUR EYES:
You must remember your beautiful, new, shiny lashes are not toys, keep from rubbing or even touching them as much as you can.
What to do:
-
If you have an urge to rub your eyes use a mascara wand and brush them instead.
-
Ensure you cleanse your extensions regularly and properly, this will also help with relieve any urges.

PULLING ON YOUR LASHES:
For obvious reasons, don't pull on your lashes, it can remove your natural lashes along with the extensions. Approximately 5 of your natural lashes will fall out naturally per day, your help is not needed.
What to do:
-
Try cleansing them, that may relieve the urge.
-
If you have a constant urge to pull on your lashes, then maybe extensions are not for you.
-
If the urge becomes to much, get the lash extensions removed professionally from your lash tech, do not remove yourself.

WHILE YOUR SLEEPING:
Sleeping on your face will defiantly affect the longevity of your lashes and may even kink and distort them, friction from movement could even pull them off.
What to do:
-
Make sure you sleep on your back or on your side and be sure not to let the pillow touch your lashes
-
Use a satin pillow case, the smooth silky fabric will reduce friction and could save your lashes snagging and pulling, plus they look and feel luxurious
MAKEUP TIPS

MASCARA AND EYELASH EXTENSIONS:
It's best not to use mascara if you can. Just the constant application and removal of the mascara can affect the retention of your lash extensions, also you can never be sure of the chemical effect it has on the adhesives we use.

What to do:
-
Ask your lash tech for a more fuller, higher Volume Sets, eg. Volume, Mega Volume, or Winkx Volume.
-
If you absolutely have to wear mascara, avoid all oil-based or waterproof mascara.

EYELINER AND EYELASH EXTENSIONS:
In most cases, it's the removal not the application of the eyeliner that has more of an impact on your extensions. You should be very careful whenever working around your beautiful eyelashes.
What to do:
-
Do not use oil-based remover.
-
Only use a powder product, so not to effect the adhesive,
-
Use a liner brush.

EYE-SHADOW AND EYELASH EXTENSIONS:
Eye-shadow with a sparkle base can cause irritation.
What to do:
-
Make sure powder and glitter doesn't get trapped in your extension
-
Use a tight-bristled eye-shadow brush
-
Always remove excess powder from your brush before application.

ALL OTHER COSMETICS AND SURUMS:
Oil can cause the glue in extensions to break down. In addition to using oil-free makeup, you need to make sure that your makeup remover and daily skin regimen is oil-free as well.

“Using a makeup remover or any cosmetics that are oil-based will cause those lashes to slip right off.”
